Duties

Duties for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Entry-level clerical and office support work.
  • Processing transactions and maintaining records, in a variety of organizational settings, to meet the requirements of agency programs.
  • Keeping records; retrieving and compiling information.
  • Performing basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Mail, supply, and inventory functions; some keyboarding and other document preparation tasks.
  • Answering telephones; completing forms; answering questions or otherwise assisting customers.
  • Creating or assisting in the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables.

  • Possesses effective keyboarding, grammatical, written, and proofreading skills.
  • Performs tasks accurately and within specific time frames.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills with staff, and with customers as necessary.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use common office equipment including personal computers, scanners, and photocopiers.

Telecommuting

The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so. Upon approval to telecommute, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period.
